You may have just written the perfect dissertation, thesis, research paper, essay, term paper or Capstone Project. You gave it everything you could and, from the academic perspective, your work should receive nothing less than an A or an HD mark. Unfortunately, despite your very best efforts, up to 10% will be deducted from your final grade because of the language mistakes you have made. Both EFL and ESL students are prone to linguistic mistakes and even though they may have read the research several times before submitting it, they failed to catch and correct all mistakes. The reason is not carelessness as much as it is lack of knowledge. 

Many unwittingly make language mistakes, ranging from simple typos to punctuation, sentence structuring, grammatical and word usage errors. You university may heavily penalise such errors:

       Most award 10% of the research grade to language and presentation, so you risk losing an entire letter grade.

       If it is an English class, such as English 101, 102, 103, 111, 112 or 113, you could fail.

       If your language mistakes interfere with meaning and make it difficult for the reader to understand what you are getting at, you risk receiving a very low mark.
